RECENTPROJECTS

We have manufactured and installed a number of vehicle and pedestrian restraint systems for National Highways on motorways and trunk roads.

Please find below a selection of prominent schemes successfully and collaboratively delivered.

Please contact us to discuss how we can assist in your future schemes.

M62 Ouse Bridge

This scheme was a parapet replacement scheme due to the service life of the parapet being compromised.

The existing arrangement posed a number of challenges to the engineering design team. Wider post centres than standard off-the-shelf solutions could accommodate, posts cast-in to a void within the string-course, low capacity strength string-course and high wind loading all required addressing. The Client entered into ECI with us to allow us to develop a practical deliverable solution.

We utilized a Duplex stainless steel primary base-plate housed in the void within the string-course which ensured no reinforcing was cut, used mechanical extraction techniques to minimize disturbance to the string-course, and developed our VC Edge lightweight aluminium temporary edge protection system.

M62 J34 All-Saints Interchange

This interchange was upgraded to replace the original parapets due to them reaching the end of their serviceable life span.

The opportunity was taken to protect the adjacent footpath from errant traffic and the safety fence was moved to the inner kerb-line as opposed to the outer stringcourse.

Isolated pad foundations were formed in the footpath to receive the safety fence posts.

A Class 3C mesh clad pedestrian parapet was then installed to the outer string course.

A1(M) Wentbridge Viaduct

Due to the integrity of the existing pedestrian parapet being compromised, resulting in the temporary closure of the footpath, this replacement scheme was prioritized for renewal, but as a listed structure required to meet aesthetic requirements of 3rd parties.

We developed and manufactured a number of prototype pedestrian parapets in both steel and aluminium and presented them to the Client and the 3rd parties for consideration.

The final agreed solution was a steel tubular post, top rail and vertical infill, finished in RAL9001 Traffic White.

A614 Boothferry Bridge

This bridge upgrade required the replacement of life expired safety fence that was secured to the existing metal bridge girders.

An innovative design solution was required for this renewal in order to ensure no impact loads could be transferred into the structure.

An offset primary base-plate solution was developed which was mounted on short double internally threaded anchor sockets. This were secured to the existing protruding bolt heads, exposed as part of the take down, and a counter-bore secondary base-plate installed at footpath level all connected by stainless steel setscrews. The void was then filled with a non shrink cementitious grout.

M621 J5-7

Due to the restricted space available in the verges on this urban motorway we were engaged early by the designers to help develop this scheme for delivery utilising our narrow footprint environmental barrier solution.

The scheme amounted to 1,357m across 7 discreet runs of our combined vehicle restraint system and environmental noise barrier, with associated maintenance/refuge walkways, transitions, safety fence and terminals.

Completed September 2021.
