VeRSco was formed in July 2011 with the successful objective of renovating road restraint system products for re-use offering end-users both carbon consumption reductions and cost savings.
Our team are proud to be at the pinnacle of the road restraint industry offering EN1317 impact tested parapets, transitions, safety fencing and the UK’s first combined environmental barrier with integrated road restraint system suitable for installation as a bridge parapet and as a roadside safety fence.
The combined EB+VRS when installed as a safety fence is mounted on precast concrete foundation units and occupies a narrow footprint facilitating installation on narrow verges, particularly beneficial in reducing verge widening and regrading requirements.
We promote engineered EN1317 compliant solutions through a collaborative design approach that focuses on providing asset protection solutions at multiple containment levels and working widths.
We pride ourselves on offering a bespoke level of involvement to assist in developing innovative solutions to unique scenarios where off-the-shelf systems do not perform suitably.
The Low Moment (LM) system was developed to suit existing structures, ensuring reduced transfer of loads into the structure and can be offered in a range of post centres to allow installation at existing holding down anchor positions thereby negating the risk to structural reinforcing during installation.
Vehicle Parapet
We fabricate and install both H2 and N2 containment level metal vehicle parapets.
Our most recent EN1317 impact test development allows us to offer a low moment post column section at N2 W1 classification. The benefits this offers in transferring less loads to the stringcourse when the posts yield has been found to be of particular benefit for replacement of end of life parapets where the stringcourse construction is marginal under assessment to new more onerous standards.
Our parapets can be offered with posts centres in the range of 1600mm up to 5500mm at varying containment levels, all with a working width classification of W1. This range facilitates the re-use of existing anchor positions which negates the risk of damage to existing structural reinforcing within the stringcourse.
We stock a number of common aluminium profiles to facilitate repairs to existing legacy aluminium parapet assets.
Transistions
Our EN1317 impact tested transition is certified as N2W2 classification and provides a suitable solution to connect alternate types of vehicle restraint system such as parapets and safety fences.
Developed to utilise common industry components and profiles the transition is available with a number of alternate foundation and post anchorage arrangements.
Stainless steel and carbon steel anchors
We manufacture both stainless steel and carbon steel anchors in house to suit any configuration of holding down anchor arrangement.
The anchors can be supplied either:
Safety fencing
We offer a vast range of compliant systems at Very High (H4a), High (H2) and Normal (N2 and N1) containment levels.
Each system is available with alternate foundation arrangements of driven, socketed or baseplated.
We manufacture all components in-house and can respond to any specific requirement for modifications and bespoke requirements.
Terminals
A selection of P1, P2 and P4 terminals can be offered to suitably terminate our safety fencing installations.
Crash cushions
We supply and install crash cushions to suitably protect road users from impact into diverging and single runs of vehicle restraint systems.
The crash cushions serve as an attenuation system to re-direct errant traffic away from structures and roadside assets
Environmental barrier
We developed and installed the UK’s first combined environmental barrier with integral safety fence.
The system was tested in accordance with EN1317 and achieved both H2 and N2 containment levels.
This innovatively designed product offers a narrow footprint, suitable for use where verge widths or stringcourses restrict more traditional solutions e.g. timber. The pre-cast concrete foundation footprint width at 400mm reduces the requirement for extensive carriageway widening and embankment re-profiling.
The galvanized steel product can also be painted to any standard RAL colour offering a greater in-use service life.
In order to supplement the Environmental Barrier we have developed ancillary products to install alongside the system including:
Non-proprietary road restraint systems
Impact tested legacy systems in conjunction with our National Highways Sector Scheme accreditations certify us to manufacture compliant legacy system components to facilitate repairs and like for like replacements of existing roadside safety fencing assets.
We offer:
Carbon saving renovation process
Our patented process tests suitability and promotes the re-use of existing impact beams prior to them reaching their end-of-life serviceability.
By preparing redundant corrugate and open box beams for re-use we offer and provide the most sustainable solution to the market.
The process affords a 1.38te carbon consumption saving compared with utilising new components and extends the servicable life of the impact beam by a minimum of 20 years. The process can extend product life span further by repetition of the process resulting in a Closed Loop Circular Economy.
The VeRSco re-use and renovation process allows the end-user to ensure that their road restraint system resources are in use for as long as possible. By diverting steel components from entering the recycling waste stream we ensure the greatest possible value is extracted from the product.
Please contact us to see how we can help you promote carbon reduction initiatives through corrugated and box beam re-use.
Edge protection
We have developed and brought to the market two temporary edge protection solutions for alternate scenarios to compliment our parapet installation services.
We provide a 1.8m high fully clad system, developed for use on rail bridges, and a lightweight 1.4m high aluminium system which incorporates a deck seal to prevent drilling slurry and detritus contaminating below.
Both systems are tested and achieve BS7818 Class 3 loadings when installed by our approved installaters
Pedestrian parapet
Fabrication and installation of metal pedestrian parapets and guardrails manufactured in line with the requirements of PD CEN/TR 16949:2016.
As with all parapet systems these products are designed for installation to prevent falls from height i.e. bridges and retaining walls.
We offer bespoke design, manufacture and installation requirements to suit the architectural aspirations for landmark structures or simply as a decorative feature to meet with individual requirements.
Parapet repairs
We stock a number of common aluminium profiles and steel parapet components to facilitate repairs to existing legacy parapet assets.
We provide a prompt response service for surveys to damaged assets and delivery of responsive repairs.
Pedestrian guardrail
To supplement our safety fencing and parapet systems we also install metal pedestrian guard-rails to deter and guide pedestrians and non-motorised road users from straying towards traffic flows.
We have capacity to undertake all fabrication detailing, design and CAD drafting and manufacture of any bespoke metalwork, metal component, metal fencing and steelwork to Client's specific requirements.
Metal work and fabrication
We have capacity to undertake all fabrication detailing, design and CAD drafting and manufacture of any bespoke metal work, metal components, metal fencing and steel-work to Client's specific requirements.
We pride ourselves in offering Early Contractor Involvement to aid in developing innovative new products and bringing them to the market such as the UK's first combined road restraint system and environmental noise barrier.
We aim to work collaboratively and openly to help design and deliver practical economical road restraint system solutions to suit each individual scenario.
